Solidago (sol - e - DAY - go)
A genus of about 130 species of hardy flowering perennials, most species native to east of the Rocky Mountains. They grow from 1 to 3 feet, with little branching, simple leaves, and summer- and fall-blooming, mostly yellow or gold flowers, grouped at the end of the stems. Commonly known as goldenrod.

Americans spend on average 90% of their time indoors, where levels of pollution may run two to five times, and occasionally more than 100 times, higher than outdoors according to the Environmental Protection Agency (www.epa.gov/iaq). Hazardous household pollutants may include carbon monoxide, radon, formaldehyde, mold, dirt and dust, pet dander, residues from tobacco smoke and candles, stored chemicals such as oil based paints, pesticides, and solvents. There is much that can be done to improve the indoor air quality of most homes. The Solidago's three main indoor air quality improvement strategies are described here.
